Classifieds

From my homeschool classifieds today:

Chicken Pox Anyone?
Cost: a couple weeks in the house??

Expires: 7/29/12

Looking for anyone who has the chicken pox! Our neighbor's son is 6 years old and his mother would love it if he could be exposed to the chicken pox. He attends a private school where probably most of the students are vaccinated so his chances for exposure are limited. Our children have all had chicken pox years ago. If you or anyone you know comes down with the chicken pox and you could remember to contact me, that would be much appreciated. Thanks!
chicken pox for us, too!
Cost: some downtime

Hi all, we'd love chicken pox too, if anyone has some to spare. Thank you!

This just never ceases to amaze or amuse me!

The Staggering Finish Line

Spring Break 2012

Jordan finished school on the 18th, Jackson will finish this Friday, June 1st. Jeanna will finish with a 1/2 day on June 8th and James....James will finish. Summer classes are scheduled to start back up June 25th. One of the workbooks that I ordered came in a less than described condition, i.e. the first chapter completed and some other child's name written in marker on the cover. I don't mind shelf wear, but this was not what I expected for my $1.67! LOL! The seller gave me a full refund so I will try again.

If Tuesday Becomes Friday Then Wednesday Brings Tears

There is a restaurant that advertises soup, salad and bread sticks that is too expensive for us so we make our own version at home...usually on Friday nights. I had to use up some lettuce so decided to have SS&B last night. Well this must have confused Jeanna cause she woke up this morning all happy that it was Saturday. Oh the tears that fell when she realized that it was only Wednesday and she had to go to PS. Poor thing :(

Service & Big News

We had Entertaining Angels today and had 10 families. Because of Mother's Day weekend, I had forgotten to mail out reminder cards, so it was good to have people come in who were regulars. We also had 3 new families sign up today. They had all been referred by another family that had been serviced in the past. Nice! Tomorrow they have to work at the local food bank.

Big News!!!

Jordan has completed 8th grade!!!!! I have to grade her final report on John Calvin and then she is done! She has had such a great week and a half and worked very hard through the final stretch. Guess what that means.... I will have a High School student in the house.

Improvement

Today was oh so much better. Prayer and sleep are miracle workers around here.

I updated attendance and completed progress report cards today. 1st grade has about 5 weeks of work left. He is grinning towards the finish line. 8th grade is in the home stretch too. I cannot believe we are getting ready for high school next year. 4th grade is making progress and is in the 8th and 9th units of his 10 units lessons. Whew.

We are also making attitude adjustments that focus on living privileged lives versus basic lives. We are naming and claiming happiness, building relationships instead of walls and changing the desires of our hearts to line up better with His delight. I am pleased that the participants want to do better which makes it easier to support.

Library day tomorrow. We may have to take a bigger book bag as my kids tend to be big borrowers. ~Smile~

Re-Entry

Today is our first day back to school from a rather extended spring break and it was tough. We have had tears and weeping and Mamma praying out loud to get us on track. We had friends over yesterday after church and they stayed past bedtime so that has led to some of the sensitive feelings. We had a great time roasting marshmallows and eating s'mores, but the sugar high of last night caused a crash this morning. I predict an early bedtime tonight will make tomorrow much better.
