It's Official!!!

I now have 5 students!!! Our adoption has been finalized.

Jeanna was funny. When I told her that it was final, she said, "Whew! I've been waiting for those papers to be signed!"

We did not have a court appointment as Jeanna was afraid to go before the judge, this is our 5th and 6th adoption and my brother and father were not able to get away, so we just had the judge sign and the agency let us know.

And so...now I am Jordan, James, Jackson, Jeanna and Joshua.

We are having an adoption party in a couple of weeks. This is the picture we used for our announcement.

Yay!!!

Christie,

Her story: About 3 weeks before she was born, "The Worker" asked me if I was ready for a new baby? I laughed and said, "I don't know nothin' 'bout takin' care of no baby!" in my best "Gone With The Wind" Southern drawl. She laughed, I laughed, we went our separate ways. 3 weeks later I was at court with a different client and the supervisor from my agency was there also. She came up to me and asked if I was here for my new baby? I had no clue what she was talking about. She said "Worker M said you were taking the new baby. She was born today and will be discharged tomorrow." I was in kind of a "dear-caught-in-the-headlights" mode when I said, "I thought she was kidding when she asked me that, but okay"

So a tiny, pink, little girl was discharged and when they placed her in my arms... I can't even describe the feeling. The initial thought was that I would foster until she was placed for adoption. Little did I know that her forever family had already been found in us!

SUPER CONGRATULATIONS! And, I LOVE the announcement! I'm SO relieved I don't have to read about that poor little girl leaving her family and going off to public school all year.

:)

Why did it take so long for the adoption to become final? Did she have to have visitation all that time?

Hevel~ Thank you so much!

Fatcat ~ Thank you! We are happy.

Lisa! So glad to see you my friend. Thank you!

Annie ~ you and me both. I don't think I could have taken another year of shoving her out that door, snottin' and cryin'. LOL!

Actually, I only filed for adoption 3 months ago, but had signed the intent forms at the beginning of the year. It was a contested adoption by out of town relatives who had never met the kids. So I had to wait for their home study which was later rejected before I filed a petition.

Thank you for your thoughts!
