We had plans...We were only going to use natural light during the day and reduce our water usage. The background music that we usually have on was going to be muted and we were hanging clothes out to dry. We had plans! But then, The water and light company decided to trim trees away from power lines and our tree...the Sycamore tree that my brother and I climbed when young, carving our initials high above ... the tree that all of my children have climbed to be able to say that have seen the markings, was on the list of "too close." They started trimming and I started fretting. They seemed to be trimming too much and on the wrong side. I asked one of the workers how they determine what to trim and he (we'll call him worker A) was very happy to explain that anything within 10 feet of the lines gets trimmed. As he was explaining that, the other worker (worker B) yelled, "Don't tell her nothing, we don't have to tell her nothing! I know how to do my job! Just come on, we will leave and I'll come back and cut the whole tree down!" Stunned silence by me and worker A. I started to cry for fear that he would cut my tree down. Worker B then started yelling at worker A to "come get on the truck", threw the tools on the truck and sped away.
I immediately called the number of the name of the company that was painted on the truck, was directed to call my power company and contacted the head of tree trimming (all the while snotting and crying LOL). I was surprised when the secretary said that a supervisor would be at my home shortly. And he showed up ... 10 minutes later. He was very apologetic and assured us that worker B would not cut down my tree. He said that they should have explained to me what they were going to cut before coming onto the property and that the threat made would not be tolerated. I felt much better... I mean... one thing to avoid on Earth day is the cutting down a healthy, well loved tree.
M*****'s Home School ~~ Home of the Rottweilers. We started this blog with the purpose of sharing information with our friends and family, but most of all to give our students more experience in writing, publishing and improving their communication skills. But changes and life marched on and now this blog serves as a record of our school progress and some of that life that marches.

Spring Break
We are back from a wonderful spring break and not looking forward to getting back to school, but we must. Spring break was later than most this year due to timeshare availability, but that made for fantastic weather. Poetry and writings from the students to follow....
We went on a trip
We were in the car for a little bit
We played on the playground
We had fun fooling around
We sat in the sun
That was so much fun
I hope we go again
While I am still 10
~Jordan Rose~
My trip was fun
There were many places to run
We stayed at a resort
I played at the B-Ball court
The drive to Apple Valley was cool
My atlas was a useful tool.
It had an 18-hole golf course
The first time I hit the ball… well let’s just say it was the worse

Poetry by Jordan
I have been learning about couplets. Couplets are 2 line poems that tell about something. You can put 2 couplets together to make a 4 line poem. Here are 2 that I wrote today:
I smell lots of flowers
They bloom in rain showers.
The flowers are so cute
They wear their pretty suits
They bloom in rain showers.
The flowers are so cute
They wear their pretty suits

I sing my favorite songs
I like it to be long
It has a fast beat
That I like to repeat
I like it to be long
It has a fast beat
That I like to repeat

My Three Wishes by Jeffrey
If I had three wishes, I would wish things for my family, my community and myself. My first wish is for my family. My wish would be that we all, including my uncle and Poppy, would live in the same house. My uncle lives 5 hrs away. I think driving to his house is a tough job because after the long drive, people do not want to do anything when we get there. When we get there, people are so exhausted they want to just crash somewhere. My Grandfather lives 2 hrs away and I think going up there is a long drive too. I enjoy everyone’s company; even though we tell crazy stories and tease each other about things that happened in the pass, we are still together. When we go to the Bahamas and we are together for 3 whole weeks, I like to sit back and see my little family altogether.
My second wish is for my community. My wish is that I can help the poor people in my community. Every time I go to downtown *******, I always see poor people trying to get into the rescue mission place. It is a place where the poor go to get fed and a cot to sleep on. I wish I could just reach out and give these poor people a half a million dollars to help them go back to school or into a good house.
My last wish for myself is that I would have my own bedroom. I would wish for a bigger bedroom because now I have to share with my younger siblings and I have a small space. I also think that if I had a bigger room I would not have to keep stacking things on top of each other. I have such a small space and have no room for anything else. When I was little I could put my bike in my room but now I can’t because I have siblings and too much stuff.
