Why I Home School...

It started with my son... a child who was the epitamy of "square peg trying to fit into a round hole." He did not behave in school. He would not stay in his seat, ran, skipped and slid around the classroom. He made noises and there was even one report from a teacher that he colored with a red crayon when asked to color with a blue crayon. Teachers found it easier to remove him from the classroom when his behavior was disruptive. School secretaries and School Leaders became tired of his trips to the hall and office and called me from work to come and get him. At first monthly, then weekly. We had meetings, divised plans, changed schools...promises were made to provide services to meet his emotional needs... but these promises could not be kept. During the 2nd half of 6th grade... the camel fell! My son had been through 5 schools in 6 years. His reading and comprehension levels were getting lower and lower every year. I realized that the only school that he could not get suspended from was mine...MHS. I must say... I do not know why we had to go through the route that we did to get to this place... but I know that this is the right chioce for us and we have been so very blessed to be able to homeschool. After 2 years of homeschooling my son, I brought my daughter (she was in 3rd grade) home to join our "student body". (LOL!) I love the way my children learn and I really enjoy modifying informaiton to meet their individual learning styles. My style is pretty structured right now, but I feel that changing a bit after joining the world of blogging. Anyway...I don't have many readers, but thought I would put my story on here just because.
